Melanie Lawler, PhD

I am an independent medical writer with more than 15 years of scientific and medical writing experience.

With a PhD in microbiology, I have the science background to quickly get up to speed in a variety of therapeutic areas, spanning from ophthalmology to infectious disease. I am proficient in the creation of a variety of scientific writing materials ranging from advisory board executive summaries to managed markets pharmaceutical formulary kits. I have a great deal of experience navigating the medical-legal review process, understand experimental design, and know how tight turnarounds are often the case.

Working in-house at CME and medical communications agencies taught me the importance of effective teamwork in order to provide high quality deliverables to the client. As such, my goal for every project is to become an efficient part of your team. I deliver quality work on schedule, so that you can deliver quality work on schedule to your client.

My journey with medicine and microbiology began during a summer internship in a hospital laboratory. From there, I went on to earn a BS from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a PhD in Microbiology from Indiana University. My PhD thesis focused on the functional and structural domains of a Caulobacter crescentus polar development protein called PodJ.

I enjoy learning about new therapeutic areas and developing scientific materials on new therapies coming to market and established medical treatments.

How can I help you complete your upcoming project?
